WHY
BUY VACATION INSURANCE?
Q: WHERE SHOULD I BUY COVERAGE? A: You can always obtain this type of insurance through a travel agency but that source is relatively expensive. RRN works with Tourist Insurance Agency (TIA) because it offers low-cost coverage as well as the following additional advantages:
Q: WHAT COVERAGES ARE PROVIDED? A: The package consists of:
Q: HOW MUCH COVERAGE DO I NEED? A: CANCELLATION INSURANCE The amount to insure is the amount of money you would lose if you have to change or cancel your booking with Resort Reservations before departure. That can be as much as 100% of your travel arrangements so we recommend that you insure the full trip price for all travelers (including tax). The amounts of insurance for all other benefits is pre-set. For details, go to Description of Coverage.
Q: DO I NEED TO BUY SUPPLIER DEFAULT COVERAGE? A: Not if you pay for the travel arrangements by credit card. That is your best protection against failure of a travel supplier and it costs you nothing extra. Moreover, residents of British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec are protected by industry compensation funds. Some insurance vendors advertise that their cancellation insurance includes coverage for supplier default but restrictions in the scope of coverage make it of limited value and it is more expensive than protection offered by Resort Reservations Network.
Q: DO LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSIONS APPLY? A: Yes, as with all insurance policies, the terms and conditions are limited. To familiarize yourself with these provisions before enrolling, you may examine a Description of Coverage online or we can mail one to you. Benefits are provided in accordance with that document and you should take time to review the scope of coverage before you buy. If you have any questions, simply contact Tourist Insurance for more information.
Q: IS THIS PRIMARY OR SUPPLEMENTAL INSURANCE? A: All benefits are secondary to whatever insurance you may already have in force. Most travelers do not have cancellation coverage present in any other policy so this benefit generally is the sole source of reimbursement. Other benefits such as baggage coverage often are present to some degree in existing policies (homeowner's insurance) or in the liability agreements of airlines and other carriers. In that case, benefits from all sources of recovery will be coordinated in event of a covered loss. That means each party will contribute its share so that you will be fully reimbursed.
Q: HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? HOW DO I BUY COVERAGE? A: The cost is 6% of your reservation price (including tax). Add the insurance cost to the deposit on your trip. Coverage must be purchased within 48 hours of making your reservation; if you decline coverage, it cannot be purchased later. Upon receipt of your insurance payment, Resort Reservations will send a Description of Coverage to you. A link to that document will appear on your itinerary; be sure to follow that link and review the terms and conditions. Once cancellation insurance is declined, it cannot be purchased at a later date.
Q: WHAT DO I DO IF I HAVE A CLAIM? A: In event of a cancellation claim before departure, notify Resort Reservations immediately. If a medical emergency arises during your trip, call the toll-free number of SelectCare which appears in your Description of Coverage. All other claims should be reported in writing to Tourist Insurance as soon as you return home. You may request a claim form online. Resort Reservations Network acts solely as sales agent for Tourist Insurance Agency (TIA) and any claims which arise must be settled directly with TIA. |
